Words From Anna

Welcome to Nutrition Journey’s next episode of selfie stick shopping. Filming these videos, if you can call it filming, has been a very interesting experience and reminds me how different Los Angeles is from where I grew up.  I was so entertained by the fact that no on seems fazed that a women with a selfie stick and a “group of people” are doing some sort of video in the grocery store with a selfie stick. Looking back, as much as I laughed when the idea was conceived, Selfie Stick Shopping highlights to me how far I have come on this crazy journey. I am not the same girl who brought an idea across the world to try and make a difference. Sometimes the biggest leap of faith can be the smartest idea you ever have. It helps you to conquer your greatest fears because you see the bigger picture. I am now having so much fun working with such amazing peoples to create these videos.

I hope you enjoys today’s video as much as we enjoyed making it!

xoxo Anna

Selfie Stick Shopping Episode 3: Shop Smart, Drink Smart & Laugh Harder

Did you know that the increased consumption of soft drink is a leading contributor to the worlds current obesity epidemic? With over $3 billion dollars a year being spent on “sodas” in the US, is it no wonder that the increasing sugar consumption of the American population is one of the leading health concerns. For the first time, the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines  include exact figures for sugar intake stating in guideline 3:

“Limit calories from added sugars and saturated fats and reduce sodium intake. Consume an eating pattern low in added sugars, saturated fats, and sodium. Cut back on foods and beverages higher in these components to amounts that are within healthy eating patterns.”

Going into more detail regarding sugar, this means that we should “Consume less than 10 percent of calories per day from added sugars”.  All sodas are counted as “added sugars”.

When it come to that ten percent of calories, do you really want  to waste them on what you drink? Especially when there are so many great healthy choices available. Check out our eBook to find many healthier drink options, whether it is an adult beverage or something for the kids.  Always remember to save the calories for what you really enjoy. Shop smart and laugh harder!
